Wk07/08: Learning Journal Summary

Look back at the HW1 assignment and think about how you would approach it now.  Think about all the things we have covered and how far you have progressed. Highlight at least two victories.      It is very important to celebrate things that go right.  It is VERY easy, and common, to focus on the negatives.  I want you to focus on the positive aspects and really reflect and be proud of the work you have done.  Mention 2-3 areas where your skills have improved, things like 'I really understand access modifiers', or 'I am comfortable extending classes', anything where you feel better now than you did at the start of the semester.      In all honesty, these last few weeks have been some of the craziest, eventful weeks of my life. In addition to all the action, this class felt very fast paced. One day I’m practicing basic java coding skills, then the next day I’m able to write a basic android application!! This class rotation has really ...
Work with your fellow classmates and go through your solutions to the Markov assignment. 1. Who did you work with?                     My team from group 9! 2. What was your strategy for solving the Markov assignment?           Firstly. I did not finish Markov as none my tests were running. Many life events were happening at the time, and I did not give the Markov assignment my full undivided attention. But this is my explanation from my perspective.            My main strategy was like the bootleg Pokémon project’s path. Use the prompt and the UML documentation to triage which methods required the most time. Many of the methods worked with one another, so it was important to keep track of each pieces return value. First try to break down what each method was doing and which other methods it was interacting with. Mainly frequently testing each unit indep...

Wk04: Learning Journal Project 1 review

Brandon’s Responses With whom did you work?               I worked with my Team! ( Aida, Analiza, Aohua, & Myself )         2. What was your strategy for solving the assignments? My main strategy was to constantly look at the UML diagram. As long as these key pieces were working, then it would serve as the foundation for my project. After all pieces were implemented, I used the testing file to see where my code was not functioning. The testing feature really helped me understand where my code was breaking.  Did you start writing code right away? Did you plan it out on paper?  In hindsight, I thinking that writing code right away was a bad idea. I got very hyper fixated on the red underlines that intellij was giving me. I constantly lost sight of what my method was trying to accomplish and what other methods it was interacting with.  What was THEIR strategy for solving the assignments?  ...
